“CSR as a lever for innovation for responsible payments”

📣According to INSEE, “In 2021, around 15.4% of French people aged 15 and over were affected by digital illiteracy. This phenomenon is a major barrier to the adoption of digital payment solutions, while 28% of French internet users have low digital skills.”

In this article, Julie Paumerie and Emmanuelle Weisberg explore the levers, challenges, and solutions to ensure equal accessibility in the face of digitalization.

They describe the central role of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the digital payments of the entreprises: strengthening transaction security, ensuring transparency in operations, and addressing the risks posed by digital illiteracy in finance, such as breaches of personal data.

The challenge is to respect citizens’ expectations while respecting their rights, the ethics, and the need for transparency.

After presenting the main challenge that financial institutions face, the article describes the topic of responsible payments through two additional axes:

👉 “The fight against illiteracy”: With the observation of a decrease in digital illiteracy during lockdown, the ighlight on the role of the European Accessibility Act on products and services, the different norms to respect, and more inclusive payment and transparency solutions.

👉 “Ensuring accessibility: a range of initiatives and stakeholders”: Sustainable Development goals implemented in the sector to combat poverty and reduce inequalities, recommendations from the CNMP, proposals to support users in navigating online services, and more.

“These actions reflect the growing commitment of financial players to reducing inequalities and promoting responsible payments.”
